Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 06 - 2017

The Miami Marlins, who were being no-hit and shut out for 7 1/3 innings by Max Scherzer, rallied to defeat the Washington Nationals 2-1 Wednesday.
Scherzer (8-5) had his attempt at a third career no-hitter broken up by backup catcher A.J. Ellis, who hit a comebacker for an infield single with one out in the eighth inning.
Diamondbacks 16, Rockies 5
Brandon Drury had four hits and drove in a career-high six runs, Nick Ahmed homered and Arizona used a 10-run fourth inning to beat Colorado.
David Peralta had four hits, Paul Goldschmidt had three and Taijuan Walker (6-3) went six innings and added a single to help the Diamondbacks end the Rockies' six-game winning streak. Walker allowed three runs and struck out eight.
Dodgers 8, Mets 2
Rich Hill allowed one run in five innings and Yasiel Puig hit a three-run homer as Los Angeles won its sixth straight game.
The Dodgers moved into first place in the National League West, a half-game ahead of the Colorado Rockies. Since May 25, the Dodgers are 20-6.
Braves 5, Giants 3 (11 innings)
Matt Kemp hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning to give Atlanta the victory over San Francisco.
Nick Markakis walked with one out, and Kemp connected on a 0-1 pitch for an opposite-field homer to right field off Cory Gearrin (1-2). It was Kemp's 12th home run of the season and his seventh career game-ending hit.
Yankees 8, Angels 4
Austin Romine tied a career high with three hits, including a two-run double in the sixth inning, as New York snapped a seven-game losing streak.
Romine's fifth career three-hit game helped the Yankees stop their longest losing streak since April 2007 and avoid dropping an eighth straight game for the first time since Aug. 19-26, 1995.
Astros 5, Athletics 1
Mike Fiers pitched six strong innings for his fourth consecutive victory, Carlos Correa hit his 14th home run, and Houston continued its mastery of Oakland.
Fiers (5-2) allowed one run on three hits, struck out five and walked three as he beat the Athletics for the first time in seven career starts (1-2). Evan Gattis and Jake Marisnick each had two RBIs for the Astros. Correa went 2-for-5 with a solo shot and scored twice.
Mariners 7, Tigers 5
Robinson Cano broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run double with two outs in the seventh inning and Nelson Cruz followed with a run-scoring single as Seattle won its fourth straight game.
The Mariners' Mitch Haniger led off the seventh with a home run to left field, his sixth homer of the season, to even the score at 4-4. Seattle didn't have a baserunner for the first five innings against Justin Verlander.
Royals 6, Red Sox 4
Salvador Perez went 3-for-3 with a grand slam as Kansas City rallied to defeat Boston.
Perez homered in the eighth inning after Red Sox relievers Matt Barnes and Robby Scott (0-1) walked the bases loaded with nobody out. Perez worked the count full before propelling a Scott pitch out to left, scoring Jorge Bonifacio, Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer.
Indians 5, Orioles 1
Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer and finished with three RBIs, and Carlos Carrasco threw six-plus solid innings as Cleveland defeated Baltimore.
Lindor's homer was the big hit in a three-run fifth inning against Orioles starter Kevin Gausman (3-7), which gave the Indians a lead they never lost. Roberto Perez lined an RBI double just before the home run.
Brewers 4, Pirates 3
Domingo Santana hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning as Milwaukee rallied past Pittsburgh.
The Pirates' Trevor Williams cruised through his first six innings, leading 3-1, before giving up a single to Keon Broxton and a double to Orlando Arcia to open the seventh. Tony Watson came on to face pinch hitter Eric Thames, who drove in Broxton to make it a one-run game.
Twins 4, White Sox 2
Jose Berrios allowed two runs and four hits in eight strong innings and Miguel Sano's solo blast in the third inning gave Minnesota the lead for good.
Blue Jays 7, Rangers 5
Darwin Barney capped Toronto's six-run first inning with a two-run homer and the Blue Jays hung on to defeat Texas.
Padres 3, Cubs 2
Wil Myers scored on an eighth-inning bases-loaded walk as San Diego beat Chicago to salvage the finale of a three-game series.
Cardinals 7, Phillies 6 (10 innings)
Tommy Pham hit two home runs, including a game-tying blast in the ninth inning, as St. Louis erased a 5-0 deficit to defeat Philadelphia.
Rays 8, Reds 3
Erasmo Ramirez dominated early and Tampa Bay's bats broke open a close game, getting four runs in the sixth on the way to a victory over Cincinnati.
