Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – "I thank Mahtab Qadr and Urdu Gulbun Jeddah for organizing such a beautiful evening for me. I am very thankful to the poets and audience whose participation made it so successful. I am going to Karachi, Pakistan, with many fond memories of Jeddah," said Anwar Ansari at the Urdu Gulbun-organized Mushaira and farewell for the calligrapher, artist and poet at Star Restaurant. Muhammad Aslam Afghani invited and welcomed the guests. Mahtab Qadr, chairman of the Urdu Gulbun, Jeddah, thanked Ansari, chief guest, Aslam Badr, guest of honor and Dr. Naeem Hamid Ali, chairman of the event, for their participation. He also thanked Afghani for successfully conducting the first session of the program. The veteran Indian poet from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Aslam Badr, was all praise for Jeddah's literary circles. "Thanks to WhatsApp web, I know the poets now present in this Mushaira. Jeddah has emerged as a great center of Urdu language and poetry," he said. "I welcome Anwar Ansari and Aslam Badr from the depth of my heart on this eve. Jeddah, the Bride of the Red Sea, has always opened its bosom for Urdu poets and writers. Urdu is flourishing here," said Dr. Naeem Hamid Ali, while chairing the event. The program began with the recitation of a few verses of the Holy Qur'an by IISJ student Muhammad Muaz. The Naat was recited by Muhammad Umar, another student of IISJ. Nasir Barni, was master of the event, who in the second session, skillfully compered the Mushaira, introduced the guests. He lavished praise on Anwar Ansari and declared him a non-controversial figure in Jeddah's literary circles. He also shed light on the cultural importance of Mushairas. "Mushairas pave the way for the development of Urdu language and poetry. The young poets, beginners in the Mushairas, should be encouraged by the audience. As well as, to keep Urdu alive in India, the poets and Urdu lovers should teach their mother tongue to their children," he added. The sorrows, sufferings, feigned fancies, love and bitter experiences reflected in the poetry that was rendered in the Mushaira.
