King Faisal Center to host terrorism forum
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 14 - 05 - 2017

RIYADH — King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies will hold an anti-terrorism forum next Sunday.
Saud Al-Sarhan, secretary-general of the center, said the forum, sponsored by the Islamic Military Alliance, would be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Riyadh.
"Titled 'The Nature of Extremism and the Future of Terrorism', the forum will be one of the prestigious events in the Saudi capital this May. It will bring together a number of pioneering experts from all over the world on one platform," said Al-Sarhan.
He said the experts would discuss the most urgent issues pertaining to extremism and terrorism on the global agenda such as the nature of extremism, its types, its effects, the projected future of terrorism, the role of social media outlets and their effects on extremist thinking and the methods of combatting violent extremism on a regional level.
"The Kingdom has deployed its political, economic, social, intellectual and security potentials to lead the war on terror. The forum is just an example of the great efforts the Kingdom exerts in combating terrorism and extremism on regional and international scales," said Al-Sarhan.
He said the forum would have four discussion sessions that will focus on the main issues the world is facing with regard to terrorism.
"The forum will devise the plausible methods for various countries to work together to find solutions to terrorism, the most challenging crisis not only for the Islamic countries but for the entire world as well," said Al-Sarhan.
He added that the forum would mainly focus on terrorism in the Middle East, its future, the role of social media outlets, and its relation to crime and corruption.
King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies was founded in 1983 as a platform that links researchers and establishments to sustain scientific research. "The center also aims to enrich the intellectual and cultural life in the Kingdom," said Al-Sarhan.
He said the center aims to connect the West with the East on common issues in order to join forces and create a bigger impact around the world.
"The center provides thorough analyses on contemporary political issues, Saudi research papers, North Africa and Northwestern Africa research papers, Iranian and Asian research papers, energy studies, Arabic and modernization studies," said Al-Sarhan.
