Alazzouni to pick winner of ‘Disney Princess Design a Dress' contest
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 05 - 2017

FASHION designer for Hollywood stars Razan Alazzouni has been chosen by Babyshop and The Walt Disney Company Middle East to select the winner of their second annual ‘Design a Princess Dress' competition, with Razan also making that one little girl's dream come true by bringing her Princess dress designs to life.
With their parents' help, girls aged 5-12 across the GCC were invited to enter creative sketches of their dream Disney Princess Dress on the Babyshop's website. A specially appointed jury panel - headed by Razan Alazzouni -evaluated the shortlisted entries based on the creativity brought out through the designs. The winner will be announced on 10th May and Razan - who has dressed Hollywood stars including Elizabeth Banks, Emma Roberts and Kendall Jenner - will then make one little girl›s dream dress a reality by lending her renowned fashion skills to bring her sketch to life.
Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, Razan launched her aself-named fashion house, Razan Alazzouni (which she shares with her two sisters Salwa and Raya) and has enjoyed many accolades, including being listed in 2014 Forbes Middle East as one of the 100 most influential companies in Saudi Arabia and being named one of the new designers of the world by Vogue Italia. Despite global acclaim, Razan proudly insists all the production (excluding leatherwork) of the fashion house is carried out in Saudi Arabia.
Expressing her excitement, GCC's leading fashion designer Razan Alazzouni said: "Aside from fashion, my main passion has always been art. I loved all things related to art from an early age but did not live in an environment which encouraged creativity, so as soon as I was old enough I applied to art school in the US and explored sculpture, screen-printing and papermaking.
"Every child potentially has a gift or talent that can be nurtured, and providing children with creative platforms such as this competition is a fantastic way of helping trigger and explore their imagination and creativity.
I feel very fortunate to be the chosen designer for the campaign and I'm excited to reveal my chosen winning design and bring that design to life for the winner.
Who knows, this competition could have found one of the world's future leading fashion designers," Alazzouni added.
Ruban Shanmugarajah, General Manager, Babyshop, said: "The ‘Design a Dress' competition is in line with Babyshop's commitment to the community to provide new and exciting experiences while closely engaging with parents and children alike. Bringing forth immense creativity, the contest aims to inspire little girls around the GCC to realize their full potential and provide a unique opportunity to dress themselves and their doll in the prettiest self-designed Princess outfit.
We've very much enjoying the fantastic designs which have been submitted so far and we're excited to see which design Razan Alazzouni selects as her winner."
