Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The sons of a well-known businessman in Jeddah have approached the legal authorities demanding to nullify a power of attorney their father had given to their stepmother. A source said the businessman owns a food products company worth over SR1 billion. "The sons claim that their father is very old and senile and is incapable of taking careful decisions. The businessman's young wife obtained a power attorney from him, enabling her to manage their father's entire wealth and business interests. The sons allege that their stepmother has stolen SR270 million from their father's accounts," said the source. He added that the sons demanded the legal authorities to form a committee to investigate the financial activities of their stepmother. "The authorities have started looking into the case. The details of the case reveal that the businessman is over 80 and his wife is only 30. The young woman had come to the court previously to prove that her husband is old and is not mentally fit to take care of his business activities," said the source. Subsequently the court gave her the right to manage the businessman's fortune, the source added. "The sons claim that their stepmother had acted unilaterally without consulting them. The sons are now trying to nullify the power attorney she had obtained to run their father's businesses by proving that she has been squandering his wealth," said the source.
