CAIRO — Coca-Cola Egypt launched a campaign — before the African Cup of Nations and to be followed by the 2018 World Cup qualification — by offering people to exchange their sports t-shirt, whether original or copy, of any foreign national team from Coca-Cola outlets for a Coca-Cola sportive exclusive t-shirt that has Egypt's flag and name on it.
The campaign received a great response from people. Many exchanged their old t-shirts for the Coca-Cola Egypt t-shirt and posted their photos on social media.
Many wondered what Coca-Cola was going to do with all the collected old and used t-shirts. The answer was out recently, that Coca-Cola recycled those t-shirts and turned them into blankets for poor people.
Coca-Cola launched the campaign as part of its CSR in cooperation with two charity foundations, Zat Foundation and Misr Elkhier. The blankets were distributed in many cities around Egypt.
"When I exchanged my Italy national team t-shirt for the Coca Cola Egypt t-shirt, I wondered what they were going to do with all these t-shirts they collected from people, and when I knew that they used them in charity work, I thought this was a good action taken by Coca Cola," said Mustafa Amer, a 25-year-old Egyptian.
"I've many high-copy football t-shirts of many European clubs and I exchanged them all. I'm so happy that my t-shirts turned into something valuable. I hope all the companies do such campaigning that goes to charity work at the end," said Ahmed Shalaby, a 23-year
