Pakistan recalls Shahzad and Kamran
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 16 - 03 - 2017

Pakistan Wednesday recalled opener Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal in separate squads for the four-match Twenty20 and three-match one-day series in the West Indies starting later this month.
Both batsmen earned their recalls on the back of solid performances in the recently held Pakistan Super League (PSL) where they played for opposing sides in the final.
The limited overs squads will be led by Sarfraz Ahmed, who will also keep wicket, with the first Twenty20 in Barbados on March 26. The remaining three matches will be played in Port of Spain on March 30, April 1 and 2.
The one-day matches are scheduled for April 7, 9 and 11 — all in Guyana.
The 35-year-old Akmal last played for Pakistan in the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh and has also shown remarkable form to regain his place, finishing as top scorer in PSL with 353 runs.
Leg-spinning all-rounder Shadab Khan, only 18, impressed selectors with his performances in the PSL to get a berth in both squads.
Squads:
Twenty20 — Sarfraz Ahmed (captain) Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Fakhar Zaman, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Ali, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Rumman Raees and Usman Shinwari.
One-Day — Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Fakhar Zaman, Asif Zakir, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Asghar, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Fahim Ashraf and Junaid Khan.
Boult ruled out
New Zealand bowling spearhead Trent Boult has been ruled out of the second Test starting in Wellington Thursday, lifting South Africa's chances of going one up in the series.
Boult pulled up lame during South Africa's second innings in the drawn first Test in Dunedin to be the second senior player to be sidelined after Ross Taylor suffered a calf tear.
Neither side had finalized their line up Wednesday for what should be a seam-friendly Basin Reserve wicket, but South African captain Faf du Plessis said the absence of Boult and Taylor would hurt New Zealand.
Although the team's have not been announced, Boult's long-time new-ball partner Tim Southee, who was dropped for the Dunedin Test, confirmed he was back in the side.
Test seamer Matt Henry is the frontrunner to replace Boult and if the wicket dictates one spinner, New Zealand may overlook Mitchell Santner in favour of Jeetan Patel who bore the brunt of the workload in Dunedin.
