Pace Excel Gavel Club affiliated to Toastmasters International (under District 79, Saudi Arabia) held their second annual speech contest recently. The theme of contest was "Excelling through Excel." Twenty-three contestants took part in three categories of speech competitions, evaluation speech contest, table topics contest and international speech contest. The evaluation and table topics contestants were shortlisted in an earlier round, where over 14 contestants participated in each segment. It is noteworthy that the entire proceedings of the event were handled by young gaveliers as per the guidelines of Toastmasters International supervised by Pace Gavel Club Management Team consisting of the senior members of Pace and Pace Advanced Toastmasters Club-Jeddah. Young gaveliers exhibited extraordinary talent in all the three categories. The contestants evaluated the speech by target speaker Gav. Mohammed Abdullah with extreme wit and observation. The winners were first place, Gav. Pritpal Kaur, second place Gav. Jeffrey Shijo and third place Gav. Unnimaya Rajeev Nair. Contest master was Gav. Nandana Kamal Mohan. Gavaliers shone with brilliant impromptu speaking skills, in the table topics contest, with first place goint to Gav. Anjali Saleef, second to Gav. Essam Ashfaq and third to Gav. Shilpa Parveen. Contest Master was Gav. Diya Sadath. The most coveted contest was International speech contest, in which 8 participants stupendously delivered informative, inspiring and motivating speeches with vast subjects from astronomy to teenage issues, food wastage, social service to name a few. The first place winner was Gav. Pritpal Kaur, second Gav. Aleena Jimmichan and third Gav. Christina Jimmichan. Contest master was Gav. Niharika Vinod. Gav. Pritpal Kaur, first place winner of the international speech will be representing Pace Excel Gavels club for the second time in a row at the Saudi Arabian Toastmasters Annual Contest (SATAC) to be held in Riyadh in May 2017. Senior officials and parents attended the function, witnessed and appreciated the talents of young gavelliers. Different roles of master of ceremony, sergeant at arms, timers, tally counters were performed by the talented gaveliers of Pace Excel Gavel Club. The event was supervised by TM Jimmy Chacko, TM Surendrapal Singh and TM Rajeev Nair. Judging panel consisted of DTM Dr. Lackshamn Sockalingam, TM Ibrahim Marickar, TM Abdulaziz Thankayathil, TM Mohammed Fawzi, TM Sheikh Zahran, TM Ashraf Aboobucker, TM Ashraf Ponnani, TM Aravindakshan Menon.
