Transport project for female teachers in offing
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 02 - 2017

The Ministry of Education is to implement this year a transportation project for female teachers working in remote areas.
The project will relieve the suffering of over 6,000 female teachers once its first phase has been completed.
Teachers who want to get access to the transportation service will pay a small subscription fee of around SR500 a month.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa, minister of education and chairman of Board of Directors, Tatweer Education Holding (Tatweer), last week approved the procedures and mechanisms of project implementation and the monthly charge for the service.
He also directed the teams to launch an e-gate wherein teachers interested in the service can subscribe and pay.
Al-Issa ordered all the teams involved in the project to ensure maximum safety and trustworthy as well as comfortable services to all teachers.
The purpose of this project is to primarily ease the suffering of teachers who work in schools that are located in remote areas and have to travel for hours daily back and forth; the project is not for teachers who work in the city.
Tatweer CEO Dr. Sami Al-Debaikhi said the monthly charge has been set based on strict criteria, taken into consideration the different cases of all teachers.
The company conducted exhaustive studies on all teachers who work in remote areas in order to come up with the right operation mechanisms for the project and ensure that all teachers get better services. Any teacher who meets the criteria should go on the website of the e-gate and sign up for the service, the official said.
"In this project, we focus only on the areas that are located far from the city and where teachers have to spend hours traveling back and forth to school. Once the project has been implemented, assessment mechanisms will be put in place to ensure that first phase is on the right track," he explained.
