* Atif Aslam is set to perform at Global Village on Friday, January 13. Aslam who is more popular for his hit Bollywood numbers and will be performing at Global Village for the first time, will begin his concert at the Pakistan Pavilion. A singing sensation in Pakistan, Aslam has received more than 15 awards and distinctions in music from both Pakistan and India. The concert is not ticketed separately inside Global Village and guests can enjoy all the entertainment offerings, including Aslam's concert, within the entrance fee of Dh15. The Global Village concert series is held every Friday at 9pm, until the end of the season on April 8. Whatever you do, don't miss it.
* On January 7, Legends of Oud concert will welcome four contrasting musical talents from across the region: Naseer Shamma and Khalid Mohammed Ali from Iraq, Necati Çelik from Turkey, and Husain Sabsaby from Syria. The concert was conceived in part by Shamma, who pledged to deliver "something special" for his second appearance at the festival, following a prestigious slot at the inaugural edition of the event two years ago.
* Popular actor and martial artist Jackie Chan's next 'KungFu Yoga' is all set to hit the theatres on January 28. As the actor gears up for the film's release, the makers have released yet another poster of the film featuring Sonu Sood with him. 'Kung Fu Yoga' is a Sino-Indian project that is a part of the three-film agreement signed between the two countries during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to India.
* Bollywood celebs up in arms against Abu Azmi's remarks. Abu Azmi,, the Samajwadi Party MLA has pinned the blame on women's 'short dresses' for the incident of mass molestation that happened in Bengaluru on New Year's Eve. Speaking to the media, Azmi said, "It was bound to happen. Women call nudity fashion. They were wearing short dresses." Azmi's statement has been met with criticism, and B-town celebs have taken offence to his extreme remarks including Farhan Akhtar and Varun Dhawan who took to Twitter to defend women's rights.
* Desiigner Goes Minimalist For Adidas Originals XBYO Lookbook. The19-year-old Brooklyn rapper posted a video clip starring alongside British model and Gurls Talk founder Adwoa Aboah for Adidas Originals' new XBYO line. This street wear-inspired collaboration features simple colors and minimalist designs, aimed at uniting the German brand's elements of the past, present, and future with their 1959 cross motif.
* South Sudanese refugee Gabriel Akon wants to rap his way into the hearts of East Africans, as he dreams of setting up a recording studio for local artists in Adelaide. But he has to crawl before he can walk and is busy establishing himself as an artist on the Australian hip-hop scene.
