People bitter over shoddy services in Madinah area
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 12 - 2016

MADINAH – Residents of King Fahd District, located opposite Haramain Railway Station in Madinah, have complained about poor municipality services, adding that waste is accumulated all over the district due to small garbage containers installed by the municipality.
They have also urged authorities to asphalt the district's roads. "We hope the municipality would understand our problems and solve them as quickly as possible to put an end to our suffering," Abu Abdul Rahman, a resident told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.
"You can see waste being piled up along roads as small garbage containers would not be able to accommodate huge amounts of waste," he said and urged the municipality to replace them with big containers to keep the district neat and tidy and prevent the spread of nasty smell.
Mohammed Al-Harbi, another resident, spoke about unpaved and damaged roads.
"Our problem is not only the pileup of garbage and environmental pollution but also worn out roads and deep slops of roads that could cause accidents," Al-Harbi said and urged the municipality to take quick steps to repair the district's road system.
Fahim Matar expressed his wonder over the poor performance of the municipality.
"We expect the municipality would take immediate steps to improve its services in the district, especially in areas opposite to the railway station," he said.
He said unpaved roads in the district spread dust, causing chest diseases. "The poor road system is also damaging our cars and we have to visit workshops frequently to repair them," he added.
Salama Alluhaibi, spokesman of the Madinah municipality, responded favorably to the residents' concerns and demands and promised quick action.
"Efforts are under way to replace small garbage boxes with big ones and the garbage problem will be solved shortly. The municipality has also taken steps to level and pave the roads," he said.
