Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 12 - 2016

THE General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) announced the start of the preparations of the second cargo operator's license tender at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh. The bidding process for the license comes within the effort of GACA to improve the level of services, open the door for foreign investments and achieve the Kingdom Vision 2030, all in an effort to upgrade the services at the Kingdom's airports.
The director of the Cargo Concessions Department for the Kingdom airports Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak said all meetings for the second cargo operator's license have concluded at King Khalid International Airport, adding that the RFP will be launched in the month February of 2017. This will allow enough time for all joint-stock companies to submit their offerings. He emphasized that GACA's constant pursuit to improve logistics services and performance to achieve the Kingdom Vision 2030, in respect to improve the Kingdom's ranking in the field of Logistics Performance Index (LPI) to the top 25 worldwide. He pointed out that the cargo village at King Khalid International Airport will provide world class logistics services, keeping up with the Kingdom Vision 2030. This a leading step toward the future, especially since the bidding is open to all international air cargo handling companies, pointing out that this will raise the quality service level, reduce cost and provide alternative solutions to the public, in addition to providing job opportunities for Saudi citizens.
He went to say that there will be more investment opportunities in other Saudi Airports, such as logistics parks and Bonded Zones together with Full Cargo Airports which GACA will announce in the next few months.
