[gallery td_select_gallery_slide="slide" size="medium" td_gallery_title_input="Disabled children paint their country in colors of love" ids="108188,108189,108190"] By Saleh Fareed JEDDAH — The 2nd edition of "The Kingdom in Their Colors" competition kicked off at King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Center for Disabled Children here recently. Disabled children from special institutes and rehabilitation centers all over the Kingdom participated. The seven-day competition was launched to express and display the love, patriotism and loyalty of disabled children toward their country through creative art works. The show not only included paintings, sculptures, pottery and knitting by the children, but also a display of photographs. Commenting on the competition in its second edition, Zuhair Maimani, director of King Abdullah Center, said: "We believe that disabled children have the ability to create events and contribute to their country in every way they can." He added: "We aim to promote awareness about our country, tourist attractions, heritage and cultural variety from the perspective of people with disabilities. On the other hand, the event aims to highlight the talents and creativity of disabled children and expedite their integration in society." Maimani noted that the competition marked the World Disabled Day and was aimed also to expose children with disabilities to art and recognize their interpretation of art and culture. The competition included a number of technical workshops for painting, calligraphy, ceramics and photography. The competition is open to all lovers of the art of drawing and painting, and involved a large number of children of King Abdul Aziz Center to highlight their skills in partnership with senior artists.
