United Nations — Saudi Arabia expressed concern on the large fiscal deficit suffered by United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East saying that the deficit threatens UNRWA's ability to fulfill the basic needs of Palestinian refugees, especially in the fields of education and health. The Kingdom renewed its call for the international community to support UNRWA's requirements and increase financial contributions and donations for the agency so that it carries out its programs in the light of the continuing Israeli aggression. This came in the Kingdom's speech on Monday before the General Assembly committee devoted to the announcement of voluntary contributions to UNRWA. The speech was delivered by Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mouallimi. He stressed Saudi support for the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate right to live in freedom and dignity and to attain all their legitimate and inalienable rights. Al-Mouallimi highlighted Saudi aid for UNRWA and said that the Kingdom occupies second place on the list of the main donors to UNRWA. The Kingdom has contributed this year alone about $150 million. The ambassador provided detailed information on the Saudi Development Fund's donations to UNRWA in addition to other Saudi aid.
