Ras Al-Khair — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman opened a number of infrastructure, development and mining projects worth SR130 billion at Ras Al-Khair Industrial City.
The projects include the infrastructure for mining railway worth SR25 billion. It is called northern railway having a length of 3000 km linking central and eastern parts of the Kingdom with the north.
Another projects include Ras Al-Khair seaport, gas network, residential village and industrial complex consisting several mining industries, oil exploration rig.
The Aramco Marine Industrial Complex was renamed as the King Salman Marine Industrial Complex.
Ras Al-Khair, a $35 billion multi commodity minerals hub, is a key example of the Kingdom's efforts to create powerful partnerships between the government departments and local and international companies that deliver key infrastructure projects to help the country reduce its dependence on oil-based income – a goal of Saudi Vision 2030. The partners behind the development of Ras Al-Khair, including mining giant Maaden, envisaged the city being a leading employer of local talent and contributor to the national economy – it is set to generate 12,000 jobs directly and tens of thousands of indirect opportunities for the local workforce and contributes over $9 billion annually towards the Kingdom's non-oil gross domestic product.
In addition to the aluminium and phosphate complexes, the city is supported by key infrastructure including a 1,400-kilometer railway connecting to the main mines in the country, a major port supporting exporting operations, one of the world's largest desalination and power plants and a fully functioning village for workers. The city's various key facilities will be formally inaugurated by King Salman in a special ceremony under the title "The inauguration of Ras Al Khair, the center of Saudi mining."
Ras Al Khair Port
The SAR3 billion ($800 million) port at Ras Al Khair, developed by the Saudi Ports Authority, is one of the most modern in the world and was built to serve as an export hub for petrochemical, phosphate and aluminium products created at nearby processing facilities.
