Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The 12th Trans Middle East 2016 Exhibition and Conference, the biggest annual Container Ports and Terminal Operations in the Middle East, was inaugurated in Jeddah on Wednesday for the first time under the patronage of Minister of Transport Salman Al-Hamdan. The event which took place at Park Hayatt Jeddah was inaugurated by Dr. Nabeel Al Amoudi, President of the Saudi Ports Authority. In his speech, the president of the Saudi Ports Authority said the authority is working hard to develop its competitive capabilities regionally and internationally within the framework of Vision 2030. During the opening ceremony, the nine Saudi ports had the chance to highlight its achievements through the increase of its operating capacity and its handled tons in all kinds of cargo raised its prosperity opportunities due to its elements and components as one of the best ports on the international marine trade line. The two-day event features 30 world-class conference speakers addressing topical issues and challenges on global transportation and logistics attended by a gathering of 400 senior executive harbor masters, harbor engineers, port engineers, maintenance supervisors and procurement decision makers together with the region's leading shippers, cargo owners, importers/exporters, shipping lines, freight forwarders, logistics companies, ports, terminal operating companies, railway operators, port equipment and services suppliers from countries throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Along side of the conference, an exhibition was also opened with the participation of many ports and terminal operating companies displayed in the event are cranes, forklifts, hand carts and trolleys, molds, stacking racks, bulk carriers, plastic pallets, pipes, production and distribution logistics, shipping equipment, stacking containers, packaging and warehousing services, stationary and hand-held bar code readers, optical distance measuring and positioning system and port instruments.
