288 abandoned vehicles removed

The local municipality towed away 288 broken-down vehicles that had been abandoned in the streets of Qatif. Eastern Province Municipality said it organized an inspection campaign targeting abandoned vehicles on the streets of Qatif. The municipality removed 80 vehicles off the streets after notifying owners. The municipality has also flagged 32 more vehicles to be towed. All vehicles have been removed to a junkyard and the owners will be fined.
Two arrested over
multiple robberies
JEDDAH — Police arrested two men on charges of multiple robberies. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the police received several reports of robberies at a number of houses and stores. The police investigated the reports and identified two Saudi men in their 20s as suspects. After arresting and interrogating the men, the police forwarded the case to the pertinent authority.
Streets cleared of
illegal vendors
MAKKAH — The municipality removed illegal street vendors from Al-Hatab Market in Al-Muaisim district on Tuesday. Head of the municipality Osama Zaytouni said they had cooperated with the Ministry of Commerce and Investment on Sunday to seize illegal street vendors in the area. The municipality removed those street vendors without a license in the market.

at Salwa crossing
RIYADH — The Custom Control foiled an attempt to smuggle 439,000 Qatari riyals into the Kingdom. Ali Al-Atawi , director of customs at Salwa crossing on the Kingdom's border with Qatar, said a vehicle approaching the exit was inspected by customs officers. The inspectors found 493,000 Qatari riyals in undeclared currency hidden underneath the backseat of the vehicle. According to Saudi customs regulations, passengers traveling to and out of the Kingdom must declare any sum of money over SR60,000.
85 rainwater
swamps drained
TAIF — The local municipality has completed works to drain and dry up 85 swamps created in the governorate during the rainy season. The municipality said it drained the swamps to prevent insect infestation and the spread of dengue fever. The municipality also sprayed the areas with pesticides.
Couple die, two kids
injured in accident
ARAR — A couple died and their two children sustained injuries in road accident in the northern region of Arar. Northern Borders Red Crescent spokesman Ahmad Al-Ruwaili said the Red Crescent received reports from a citizen of a vehicle that had toppled over on Al-Shamal Al-Dowali road. The accident resulted in the death of a man and a woman and the injury of their two children. All of the victims were transported to Arar Central Hospital.
