JBL juniors gearing up for regional basketball

JEDDAH — JBL Teens, bannered by SNKSJ Juniors, and Midget players will travel to Riyadh to participate in the 1st BM Regional Basketball Tournament to be held on Sept. 13-14 at the Al-Yamamah Hotel Sports Complex.
This two-day event is a joint venture between Riyadh BM Basketball (James Smith) and Jeddah Basketball League (Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and Donald Dolloso) with the support of BM Basketball and JBL Teens parents. This is the first ever regional event to be held for the OFW children in the Kingdom. Games will start at 5 p.m.
Meanwhile in JBL, Knights of coach Ray Madattu defeated Jeddah Clippers 94-80 at the Khalidia basketball court here. The winner applied tough defense throughout the game. Garcia scored 34 points for the winner and was adjudged the Seiko Watch Best Player. Mateo connected 26 points for the loser.
This tournament is principally sponsored by Seiko Watch of Al-Hussaini & Al Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Hussaini) with co-sponsors Nesma Airlines (Faisal Al Turki), Rabea Tea, Giordano Fashions (Ahmadullah), New Cabalen Restaurant (Japh Villanueva) and Ric Printing.
Breman Islamic Center of coach Mahmoud Quidlat beat Khalidia Balik Islam 82-74 for its back-to-back win. Eduardo led the winner with 30 points and was named the JBL Best Player, while Paloma scored 26 points for the loser.
R. Printing of coach Jhun Pantaleon won over Jacobs UDG, 100-57. Playing team manager Rick Santos scored 22 points for the winner and was selected as the Giordano Best Player. Dela Rosa and Casingal contributed 13 points apiece for the loser.
BHBC of Popoy Lampa beat JDC Veterans 73-62. Atienza and Ras hit 13 points apiece for the winner and were adjudged the Seiko Watch Best Players. Manlangit collected 14 points for the loser.
Pazadaure of coach Ray Mangohig defeated Leylaty 109-77. Gonzales scored 39 points for the winner and was selected as the New Cabalen Restaurant Best Player. Fernandez led the loser with 23 points.
SACC of Allan Reyes beat Underdogs 69-68. Villoria top scored with 10 points for the winner and was named Seiko Watch Best Player. Carlo contributed 15 points for the loser.
