Saudi Agriculture Exhibition 2016 to showcase latest technologies aimed at sustainable food security
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 07 - 09 - 2016

Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 emerged based on the government belief in the need to develop the economic sector and achieve sustainable growth and development in the country.
One of the focal points of the vision is reserving the natural resources of the Kingdom, which includes the rationalization of water consumption especially in the field of agriculture, and achieving national food security through creating strategic agricultural partnerships with countries characterized with fertile soils and blessed with an abundance of agricultural resources. It also includes utilizing the vast space on the shores of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf and supporting aquaculture projects, thus contributing to the diversification of the production based in the country, in addition to increasing the self-sufficiency of poultry and supporting organic farming.
The main goal of this strategy is to increase the extent of contribution of the agricultural sector in the GDP in order to boost economic growth, provide job opportunities for the citizens, and stay up to date with the latest trends to develop the sector and turn it into a sustainable sector in harmony with the natural resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
And here lies the vast importance of the Saudi Agriculture Exhibition, the ideal platform that combines public and private sectors as well as large international participants, which opens up new horizons to showcase the latest products and services, build successful partnerships, and communicate with representatives of international companies, major investors, traders, government officials and decision-makers.
For over 35 years, Saudi Agriculture Exhibition has been successful in being the leading exhibition in the field of agricultural development and related industries. This year, the Exhibition certified by UFI – the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry and organized by Riyadh Exhibitions Company, is held under the patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and supported by the Saudi Organic Farming Association (SOFA). The exhibition also established strategic partnership with the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and industry, and sponsored by Al Fakieh Company (Diamond Sponsor).
As a continuation of its success, the 35th edition of "the Saudi Agriculture Exhibition 2016" held in concurrence with the "Saudi Agrofood 2016" – the 23nd International Trade Exhibition for Food Products, Ingredients & Technologies and the "Saudi Food-Pack 2016" – The 6th International Trade Exhibition for Food Processing & Packaging Technologies, will be held on Oct. 2-6, 2016 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
General manager of the exhibition Khalid Daou said: "Saudi Agriculture Exhibition gathers local and international companies to showcase and discuss the latest technologies and services that meet the needs of the Saudi agricultural sector, and of course the exhibitors and visitors. The number of exhibitors has reached 350 companies so far, coming from 31 countries across the world, where 96% of the exhibition space has been booked. In line with the government's new direction which aims to achieve sustainable food security, the exhibition strategically sheds light on organic farming and its products, as well as aquaculture."
He added: "Through organizing local exhibitions according to international standards, Riyadh Exhibitions Company Ltd. aims to highlight the vital sectors in the economy in line with the Kingdom's strategic plans to become a global destination for conferences and exhibitions, and to enhance communication channels between local and international partnerships and boost the strong business link between the two parties."
