Saudi Gazette
Young Artist In Focus
Introducing Mike Williams
19-year-old DJ and producer Mike Williams struck gold with his ID single hit called ‘Sweet and Sour'. Not only was the track picked up by the biggest DJs in the game, Tiesto signed it to his label Musical Freedom. Saudi Gazette caught up with Williams, who is now signed to Spinnin' Records.
How It Started
I started DJ'ing and producing my own music when I was 14 years old. I've watched a lot of Youtube videos and taught myself how to DJ. My production skills were getting better and better and eventually I gained a lot of plays on my bootlegs on Soundcloud. That's how it all started!"
Spinnin' Records
Being signed to Spinnin' was a dream coming true and it felt like kind of a new fresh start for me. When I got signed I wanted to improve my skills before releasing my first track. So after a couple of weeks ‘Sweet & Sour' was born and we decided to tease it as an ID. It was amazing for me to see all the big EDM artists play my track!
Future Plans
Music will always be a very important thing in my life. So hopefully in 5 years I still get to produce and play my own music and do the things I love!
Music And Success
When I started producing my music I had a different style than I have now. But I've always been a fan of melodic house music. My whole family plays the piano, so do I, and that really has an influence on the way I produce my music! For me it's amazing to see that people like my tracks and enjoy my show that is something that gives me a boost!
Upcoming Performances
This week I'm going to Canada, Las Vegas and I just did a show here in The Netherlands where I live. There are so many great festivals and clubs in the world that are on my bucket list! But of course everything goes step by step.
Future Releases
My track ‘Sweet & Sour' did very well! I'm so happy with that because it was my first track that was released after my signing with Spinnin'. I just released my track together with Tiësto called ‘I Want You', and there are a lot of new tracks coming in the near future.
l Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's trailer has everyone guessing what the Karan Johar movie is all about. The Ranbir-Anushka-Aishwarya-Fawad-starrer took over social media by storm and the teaser has almost 9 million views on YouTube already.
l Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is Marvel's Latest Superhero. He is on one of two covers of the latest edition of Civil War II: Choosing Sides - seated in the corner of a boxing ring surrounded by Canadian superheroes Aurora, Puck, Sasquatch - members of the Alpha Flight squad – and of course Iron Man in the background.
