Makkah divided into 5 zones for cleanliness

MAKKAH — The city of Makkah and the adjoining holy sites have been divided into five zones to keep all the areas clean during the Haj season.
Makkah Municipality has signed five contracts for this purpose.
Makkah Municipality Services deputy municipal official Abdulsalam Mushat said the cleaning work will involve 7,152 supervisors and workers. "The municipality has a comprehensive plan to clean not just the Grand Mosque but the entire city and the holy sites during the Haj season. The municipality has the latest cleaning equipment and machinery," said Mushat.
Makkah Municipality Cleaning Operations Management and Follow-Up Director Atif Hikami said the holy sites and Makkah city is divided into five zones.
"Each area has its plan. The first area includes Al-Mushat Road, Dugm Al-Wabar, south and north Muzdalifah, Al-Taradudiyah and Arafat. A total of 1,361 supervisors and workers were designated for this area. The area has also been allocated 219 different pieces of equipment," said Hikami.
The second area includes south of Al-Rabwa, Al-Rabwa, Al-Shuaib Al-Sharqi, Wadi Muhsir and east of Wadi Muhsir.
There are 1,387 supervisors and workers designated to the area. The area was also allocated 86 different pieces of equipment.
The third area includes Mount Mina, Sidqi Center, Al-Khaif, Al-Diyafah, Al-Haras. The area is allocated 1,270 supervisors and workers. There are 49 different pieces of equipment allocated to the area.
The fourth area includes Al-Baiah, Majr Al-Kabsh, Al-Wadi, Al-Shuaib Al-Gharbi and Al-Muaisim. There are 1,348 supervisors and workers designated to the area and 80 different pieces of equipment. The fifth area includes the southern and northern courtyards, Al-Jamarat, Al-Jowhara and Arab Souk. There are 1,786 supervisors and workers designated to the area. There are also 135 different pieces of equipment allocated to the area.
Meanwhile, 200 companies of domestic pilgrims began setting up tents in preparation for Haj.
Makkah Commerce and Industry Chamber Haj Committee member Mohammad Al-Qurashi said the companies are setting up around 18,000 tents in Arafat.
The tents can accommodate a total of 130,000 domestic pilgrims.
A crew of 2,000 workers are involved in setting up the tents.
The total cost of setting up all these tents reaches SR55 million, said Al-Qurashi.
