Daesh suspects kill mother, seriously wound father, brother

JEDDAH — The people of Riyadh woke up on Friday to the shocking news of two brothers killing their mother and inflicting critical stab wounds to their father and brother in the Hamra neighborhood of the city, the security spokesman at the Ministry of Interior said.
Police arrested the twin brothers — Khaled Al-Arini and Saleh Al-Arini — who are suspected Daesh (so-called IS) terrorists.
After committing the gruesome crimes, Khaled and Saleh, aged 20, attempted to flee the scene. They stole a car from an expatriate by force and tried to escape in the car. But security officials launched a massive manhunt and caught them in Dalam town in Al-Kharj region on Friday morning.
Investigations are under way to uncover the circumstances of this heinous crime, Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, the ministry spokesman, said in a statement.
The security officials received information about the crime at 1.12 a.m. on Friday, according to the statement. He said that the culprits first enticed their mother, aged 67, to the storeroom of their house and fatally stabbed her multiple times.
The suspects then approached their father Ibrahim Al-Arini, aged 73, and stabbed him multiple times before heading to their brother Suleiman Al-Arini, aged 22. The father and brother of the twins are currently in critical condition in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.
Police recovered sharp knives and cleavers from the crime scene, and the culprits had brought the weapons to commit the crime.
Meanwhile, Othman Al-Munaie, imam of the local Al-Mohaisen Mosque in Hamra, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the parents of the twins came under attack a few hours after performing Taraweeh prayers at the mosque. In his tweets, the imam said that Ibrahim is a pious Muslim and his slain wife was also strictly observing rituals.
"The twins with suspected Daesh links came to the mosque for attending congregational prayers for one week before four months and then they did not visit the mosque to perform prayers," he said, adding, that Daesh militants target those who are observing religious rituals strictly.
Similar cases were reported in the Kingdom in the past. Last year, police arrested Daesh-loyalist Saad Radi Ayash Al-Anzi, who along with his brother, killed their soldier cousin after enticing him to a remote location.
