Indian envoy presents awards to IISD toppers

The International Indian School Dammam (IISD) held its annual academic award distribution ceremony in the Boys' school's Multipurpose Hall. Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed, who was the chief guest, presided over the function. Dr Hifzur Rahman, second secretary and the observer of Indian schools in the Kingdom, John Thomas, the higher board member, Chairman Mohammad Abdul Waris and members of the managing committee attended.
Among the invited guests the former committee chairmen and members, principals from the neighboring schools, sponsors and the awardees, parents and students were present.
Waris, in his welcome note, promised the community the wholehearted dedication of his team for the advancement of the school and the school community. The school's Vice Principal Ms. Mehanaz Farid presented a beautiful analysis of the academic performance of class X and XII students in the CBSE board examination of 2015-16 on behalf of the Principal & HOI Dr. Mohammed Shaffe.
Altogether, 434 students were honoured in various categories like CGPA 10 and CGPA 9.8 in class X and silver honor rolls for 85% and above, gold honor for 90% and above in class XII, subject toppers, cent percent scorers and toppers in the school and in the Kingdom etc. The Ambassador gave away the awards for the Kingdom toppers in Science and Commerce streams to Master Samarth Shah and Miss Yusra Khan.
He also gave away the awards for the school toppers in various streams, cent percent scores and other subject toppers. Ten students in class XII scored 100/100 in various subjects. Other awards were given away by the Chairman Abdul Waris and members of the Managing Committee Dr. Abdussalam, Deputy Chairman Hasnain Akhtar, Academic Convener Dr. Francis Borgio, Higher Board Members John Thomas and Dr. Hifzur Rahman.
The Ambassador, in his keynote address, emphasized the need for more interaction and involvement from the parents with the school management and vice versa. He also advised students, with the support of parents, to consider a career in the Indian government services. He also awarded special prizes for the Kingdom toppers and school toppers from his side as special appreciation for the meritorious students.
Vice Principal Alamgir Islam proposed the vote of thanks. M/S Joy Alukkas, M/s Malabar Gold & M/s Suncity Silks, World Rep, Ameen Saifullah and Air India sponsored various awards, prizes, gold vouchers and return air tickets for the meritorious students. The compering group included teacher guide Ms Rejana Akbar, and students Ms. Sara Yohannan and Ms, Alisha Padhey managed the entire program. The function started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Aquif and its translation by Syed Hyder.
