Jubail Open 2016 Badminton Tournament big success

JUBAIL — The Jubail Open 2016 International Invitation Tournament, organized by Saudi Badminton Committee & Expatriate Badminton Association (EBASA) in collaboration with Royal Commission for Jubail, ended successfully at Al-Huwailat Indoor Club here recently.
International players from 4 countries — Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Pakistan took part in this two-day event. The guest players were Fikry Ihsandi Hadmadi, Andrei Adistia and Bona Septano (Indonesia); Kah Ming Chooi, Tech Zhi Soo and Ow Yao Han (Malaysia); Shreyanshkumar Jaiswal, Shlok Ramachandran and Sanyam Shukla (India); Rizwan Azam, Murad Ali and Kashif Ali (Pakistan). The international referee and umpires were Ashley George, Anil O.M. and Jojan John from Bahrain.
In the singles final, Fikry Ihsandi Hamadi of Indonesia beat Shreyanshkumar Jaiswal of India in a closely-fought match 21-18, 21-14 to win the championship. The second and third runners-up were Tech Zhi Zoo and Murad Ali, respectively. In the doubles final, the Malaysian pair of Kah Ming Chooi and Ow Yao Han subdued Indonesia's Andrei Adistia and Bona Septano 21-19, 21-17.
The winners and runners-up were awarded prize money and trophies by sponsors.
Over 25 Saudi boys, fielded by Saudi Badminton Committee, played in various flights in junior singles and doubles. Over 400 players of various nationalities from Riyadh and Eastern Province took part in 9 levels. The standard of the players were much above expectation. The Premier Flight doubles title was won by Shihab Mohammed and Vinu Johny.
This tournament was conducted directly under the Saudi Badminton Committee and its special representative Olayan Al-Harbi was present during the event. Tournament director K.I. Ansari was instrumental in making this event a success. General secretary Arif Shamsudeen took care of the prize distribution program. EBASA President George PuthenMadhom congratulated the winners and runners-up and appreciated the great support from various sponsors.
The Royal Commission (RC) representative, Yakoub Al-Dossary, congratulated all the winners and assured his support to EBASA in future tournaments. The Social Services section of RC supported this tournament and allowed to avail its facilities for the championship.
Mementos were presented to officials of Saudi Olympic Committee, Royal Commission for Jubail, Saudi Badminton Committee and the sponsors.
