Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — The Executive Court in Jeddah has asked a private security company to pay arrears of more than SR570,000 to 41 of its Saudi female staff members. The judge in the case made it obligatory on the company to make the payments in implementation of a ruling to this effect issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development's preliminary authority for the settlement of labor disputes. When the company started to procrastinate, the judge decided to freeze its bank accounts, stop all computer services, and imprison its representative. The company has finally acquiesced and deposited the dues of each of the female security staff member at the court which in turn handed out the checks and closed down the case. During the past six months, the court has, through 13 circuits, issued more than 13,000 rulings reimbursing an amount of more than SR8 billion which were paid to beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Personal Affairs Court in Jeddah has asked a husband to pay his divorced wife an amount of SR235,250 in alimony since he has divorced her about nine years ago. The court ruled that the husband must pay SR211,250 in monthly installments as a six-year alimony to his daughter in addition to SR24,000 as school fees for her during the past period. It asked the husband to pay SR2,500 as monthly alimony and SR16,000 for house rent to his divorced wife and his daughter. The judge said the rights of the family must be strictly observed as the family is the nucleus of society.
