ICAD lifts MCH Afternoon Cup

JEDDAH — A superb spell of fast bowling by Rizwan and Aashiq (2 wickets each) enabled ICAD to skittle out Peeran Warriors for 105 and their batsman Moazzam (46 not out) and Mohsin (32) finished off in style knocking off the required runs to give ICAD an easy win by 8 wickets in the final of the MCH Afternoon Cup sponsored by My Care Hala and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA).
Peeran Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first. But good bowling by Rizwan (2-4) and Aashiq (2-21) and a wicket each for Hassan and Qaisar bundled them out for 105 in 15.2 overs. Shah Rukh (41) was the lone batsman to offer some resistance and Shahid (18) supported him.
In reply, ICAD knocked off the runs (105-2) in only 11.2 overs, with Moazzam scoring an unbeaten 46 runs (3 sixes, 2 fours), Mohsin 32 and Ateeq Mansha 14 not out to give ICAD a massive win by 8 wickets and the maiden MCH Cup.
After the final the prize distribution ceremony was held at the ground where chief guest Hamid Rana of MCH congratulated the winner and runner-up teams and the individual performance award winners. He assured JCA of the continuous support of My Care and Hala management as part of their social responsibilities and commitment to the cause of cricket in the Kingdom.
JCA CEO Mohammed Iqbal thanked MCH management in general and Sameer Nidal Khan in particular for sponsoring the second consecutive JCA Afternoon League.
Performance awards:
Best All-Rounder — Taqi ur Rahman of Saudi German Hospital (466 runs and 11 Wickets); Best Batsman – Raja Mohsin of ICAD (561 runs); Best Bowler — Dr. Abdulrehman Mussarat Khalil of AJA (18 wickets); Emerging Player — Dr. Abdulrehman Mussarat Khalil.
Service awards were also given to Syed Azam and Zainul Huda (umpires), Sayeed Ahmed (scorer) and Amir and Hafiz (ground maintenance).
Semifinals results:
ICAD beat Jeddah Shaheen by 8 wickets.Jeddah Shaheen 140 all out in 20 overs (Urooj Mohamed 39, Umar 36, Faisal Khan 28; Hassan 3-26, Shakeel 2-28, Qasir 2-23). ICAD 143-2 in 17 overs (Mohsin 87, Shakeel 27 not out).
Peeran Warriors downed Saudi German Hospital by 52 runs. Peeran Warriors 219-7 (Hafiz 84 — 20 balls, 5 sixes, 7 fours, Farooq 70 — 20 balls, 8 sixes, 4 fours, Sajid 20; Kashif 4-28. Saudi German Hospital 167 all out (Waqas Khan 40, Sibthul Hassan 29; Afridi 4-24, Shahid 2-24, Faisal 2-25).
