JEDDAH — KrabLoad, a local food event that mixes cuisine and fun, was held for the third time running in Jeddah on Saturday and many new, small food and beverage businesses grabbed the opportunity to showcase their products to families and young people.

Street Food was the theme of this edition of KrabLoad, in which different types of international and local sweet and sour dishes were presented to visitors. The event on Saturday was held at Take Off Racing Club, opposite the Red Sea Mall, and was curated by Marfa World.

What made the night special was that there were games on offer that families could enjoy. Several small food and beverage business took part, including Karak Tea Station, Satina, and The Gourmet Theatre. Most of the local food business founders were also at the event in order to market their products.

Reema Samir, a visitor, said: "Since we do not have any entertainment facilities in this country, food is one of the major entertainment facility. There is a lot of varieties of food and it helps the entrepreneurs to flourish. It is an event to gather family members together, which is something healthy."

Khalid Ahmed, another visitor, said that the event had succeeded in grabbing the attention of Jeddah's residents and food lovers. He mentioned that such an event could be an appropriate tool for local business to gain much-needed exposure.

"You can feel the positive vibes of those owners and young people that are selling their products and we are very proud of them," he said.

Foodies SA, a social media account started by a group of Saudi food lovers to share their experience and food tasting with public, were also part of the event, and sold around 40 sandwiches in three hours.

Entry fee for the event was SR50 for children, SR75 for students, and SR100 for adults.
