A ministerial team completed investigations into officials in Najran after the local municipality was implicated in various violations involving public property by the General Audit Bureau. A source at the General Audit Bureau told Al-Watan daily that the ministerial team included representatives of the Control and Investigation Board, the Ministry of Finance, the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Audit Bureau and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. The investigation was concluded after questioning some of the municipality staff at the headquarters of the Najran Municipality. The violations included selling or assigning of real estate owned by the state; granting to citizens land set aside for public service projects such as parks; leasing land and other facilities to individuals without concluding contracts; not collecting rents amounting to millions of riyals; and taking advantage of some of the properties without paying rent. The source revealed that the investigations followed accusations by the General Audit Bureau in a report on Najran Municipality of violations that caused wastage and loss of funds and other resources belonging to the state.
