AMMAN – Saudi Arabia and Jordan on Monday rejected Iranian policy of interference in the region's internal affairs, saying that such an interference ignites sectarian strife and is instrumental in rising terrorism. They also warned Iran against continuing its current approach that deepened the conflicts in the region in a way undermining its security. The two countries said this in a joint statement issued at the conclusion of a visit to Jordan by Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, and following his meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah. During the visit, Prince Muhammad held wide ranging talks with King Abdullah and agreed to further bolster bilateral relations. They also discussed the latest developments on the regional and global arenas. During his visit to Aqaba, Prince Muhammad also toured the the advanced military hardware at the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB). The leaders underscored the need for strengthening political consultation between the two countries in order to resolve regional crises, and stressed the importance of maintaining the territorial integrity, sovereignty and stability of the countries in the region. They also vowed to exert more efforts to strengthen cooperation in the field of security and combating extremism and terrorism. Prince Muhammad and King Abdullah also emphasized the significance of actively involving in the global counter-terrorism efforts by taking part in international coalitions and regional alliances, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Saudi Arabia and Jordan agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint investment fund between the two countries. In line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Jordanian King, the two sides also agreed to enhance bilateral ties in developing military cooperation to promote security and stability in the region as well as to strengthen cooperation in the fields of energy, uranium mining, and production of electricity by using nuclear energy. It was also agreed to boost cooperation in the field of trade to increase the volume of trade exchange and promote joint investments in development and investment projects, in addition to expanding cooperation in the field of transport, particularly with regard to the transfer of goods between the two countries.
