Private firms launch job drive to recruit young Saudis

JEDDAH — A number of private sector companies in collaboration with the public sector have launched a drive on Sunday with an aim to recruit young unemployed Saudis.
The campaign titled "Employment Path" is spread over all regions of the Kingdom and will last for four days.
There are 48 private companies, which are participating in the program, offering about 3,000 jobs to the unemployed.
As part of the campaign, young Saudis will be called for job interviews, particularly in the telecommunication sector as the ministry of labor ministry of labor is now Saudizing the sector.
The general manager of the Ministry of labor department at Makkah region, Abdullah Al-Elayani, kicked off the "Employment Path" at the Jeddah chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was also attended by a representative from the Human Resource Development Fund and the Technical and vocational Training Cooperation.
Al-Elayani noted that the campaign path is taking place simultaneously at 12 cities across the Kingdom and four government bodies are participating in it. The goal of the campaign is to provide job opportunities in private sector for youth and develop a local manpower that is equipped to participate in development of the country and increase the localization of employment.
Muhyi Al-Din Al-Hakami, the deputy secretary-general of the JCCI, noted that some 1,000 young Saudis competed Sunday for 3,000 jobs offered by some 48 companies participating in the event.
Al-Hakami added that these jobs cover different specializations: Administration, marketing, finance and vocational jobs as well as the telecommunication sector. The trained youth will get jobs immediately while the untrained individuals will get a wage of 3,000 during their training.
Two days are devoted for men and another two days for women, he added.
The head of the TCTC in Makkah region Faisal Ogail noted that they have 14 training units that are present in different regions to meet mutual goals and added that they work on a joint plan to localize jobs in telecommunication, travel and tourism, hotels, administration, technical and construction sectors.
The national System for Mutual Training which is the umbrella organization for training youth has specified that all applicants have to be Saudi, have attained the age of 18 and must adhere to HRDF regulations. Applicants must provide their national IDs along with their certificates. Applicants will get training in mobile phone advanced maintenance and sales management.
