Italian cooking lessons at the Waldorf Astoria Jeddah
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 16 - 03 - 2016

RENOWNED Master Chef Mauro Giordano of the Aromi Restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria Jeddah – Qasr Al Sharq gave a behind the scenes interactive cooking class to a group of selected participants.
"For me, this cooking class was a unique opportunity to express my love of my home country's cuisine by teaching the secrets of how to prepare and cook authentic Italian recipes," said Chef Mauro. "I especially made the class interactive and engaging so that the learning process became a fun and entertaining experience that truly expressed the Italian enjoyment of the good life and good food."
The two-hour class started off with refreshments followed by a roundtable discussion in the restaurant where Chef Mauro introduced himself to the participants. Before the cooking class began, the hotel's Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) manager gave a short training session on food hygiene and safety in the kitchen.
‎After this, Chef Mauro explained the set-up for each participant and presented them with an Aromi apron, usually worn exclusively by Aromi kitchen staff, which they were allowed to keep as a souvenir.
The participants then proceeded to the kitchen where they were assigned a cooking area complete with a grill. Next, Chef Mauro explained the various utensils to be used and then started teaching how to prepare and cook authentic Italian recipes. At the end of the class there was a question and answer session with Chef Mauro, after which the attendees were given a surprise gift and a goody bag.
Located in the sumptuously opulent Waldorf Astoria Jeddah - Qasr Al Sharq, the elegantly appointed Aromi Restaurant is Jeddah's leading venue for the finest Italian cuisine, where the appointment of the internationally renowned Mauro Giordano as Executive Chef is raising the level of Italian cuisine to new heights.
"Mauro Giordano comes to us with an international reputation for culinary skills that satisfy the most demanding and knowledgeable diners around the world," said Cluster General Manager of Jeddah Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Jeddah - Qasr Al Sharq, Kevin Brett. "His delicious and exquisitely presented menus, complemented by the Aromi's luxurious ambience and magnificent views of the Red Sea, will certainly continue to draw royalty, diplomats, business leaders and other dignitaries who make up the restaurant's regular clientele."
