Daesh supporter gets 9-year jail

The Penal Court on Monday sentenced a Daesh (the so-called IS) supporter to nine years in prison. He was also found guilty of defaming the Kingdom. The court found that the man used Twitter expressing his support for Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. The convict was also banned from travel for nine years after his release, banned from using the Internet and had his Twitter account deactivated.
Man shots public sector employee
BAHA — A man shot bullets at an employee of the Saudization committee in Al-Mikhwah Governorate. Baha Police assistant spokesman Lt. Gen. Bandar Abdul Hadi said police teams arrived at the gas station where the incident took place after receiving a report from the brother of the victim. The victim was in his car when the shooter shot him twice, but the bullets did not hit him directly and shattered the car's glass windows. The victim was injured by glass shreds and was taken to the hospital. The victim told police that the shooter was in his 40s and said that the shooting was with the motive of settling a previous fight between the two. The police tracked down the shooter and arrested him. The weapon involved in the crime was found to be unlicensed. The case has been forwarded to pertinent authorities.
Six injured in Makkah fire
MAKKAH — Six people suffered from smoke inhalation due to a fire that broke out in their home in the holy city on Monday. Makkah Civil Defense spokesman Capt. Naif Al-Sharif said the fire broke out in a two-story house in Al-Nawariyah District. Firemen extinguished the fire and rescued six people from inside the house. The victims all suffered from smoke inhalation but were treated on the spot by paramedics.
Student points gun at security guard
JAZAN — A student pointed a gun at a security guard after a brawl between the two. Jazan University spokesman Ibrahim Abu Hadi said a university dormitory student got into a verbal fight with a security guard over a traffic violation. The security guard called the student into his office to question him about the violation. The student immediately stood up and pointed a gun at the security guard demanding that he let him out of his office. The security guard complied to contain the situation, then reported the incident to the rest of the security staff members who reported the incident to the police. The police showed up and arrested the student and seized his gun. — Okaz/Saudi Gazette
