RIYADH — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised all citizens not to travel to Lebanon, an official source at the ministry said while attributing this out of its concern for their safety. The ministry urged all citizens residing in Lebanon or visiting the country to leave and not to stay there unless extremely necessary. The source called for taking care and caution while being there and contact the Saudi Embassy in Beirut to provide the necessary facilities and care for their safety, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Announcing the halt of military aid worth $3 billion on Friday, an official said the Kingdom had noticed "hostile Lebanese positions resulting from the stranglehold of Hezbollah on the state". Riyadh was making "a comprehensive review of its relations with the Lebanese Republic," the unnamed official said, cited by SPA. The Council of Ministers on Monday clarified the Kingdom's decision to halt military aid to Lebanon, saying that Hezbollah's usurping of the will of the Lebanese state forced Beirut to take deplorable and unjustified stand against the Kingdom. While noting that the Kingdom has done everything in its power to prevent matters reaching this level, the Cabinet emphasized that it will stand by the brotherly Lebanese people with all their sects, and it will continue supporting them. "The Kingdom has stood by Lebanon in its difficult times and supported it without distinguishing between its sects and groups," said the Cabinet. Despite all these, Lebanese government took anti-Arab position at the behest of Hezbollah, the Cabinet pointed out.
