Published in The Saudi Gazette on 15 - 02 - 2016

Islamabad United jumped to third place on the points table, behind Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, as it stormed to a five-wicket win against Karachi Kings here Sunday.
Chasing a modest target of 129, Islamabad lost three early wickets, but Misbahul haq (38) and Khalid Latif (33) stitched a patient 63-run partnership to lead a recovery. Once Latif was dismissed, in the 14th over, Asif Ali gave Islamabad the thrust it needed by smashing 31 off 17 balls to take his side home with seven deliveries to spare. Sohail Khan was the pick of Karachi's bowlers with 2 for 23.
Earlier, Karachi, suffered a poor start, falling to 2 for 3 within two overs. However, Ravi Bopara held the innings together with a vital 45. Shahzaib Hasan scored 27 off 19 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim blitzed a 27-ball 33 to tally 128-5.
Scores:
Karachi 128-5 (S. Hasan 27, Bopara 45, M. Rahim 33, Imran Khalid 2-19).
Islamabad 131-5 in 18.5 overs (K. Latif 33, Misbah 38, A. Ali 31 not out; S. Khan 2-23).
In a late match on Saturday, powered by a fine all-round performance by
Cameron Delport, Lahore Qalandars edged against Peshawar Zalmi by 4 runs.
Chasing a stiff target of 165, Peshawar recovered from a top-order wobble through some big hitting from Dawid Malan, but the team did not have enough to get over the line.
Earlier, Lahore lost Chris Gayle for a first-ball duck, but Delport put up fifty-plus stands with Azhar Ali (25) and Umar Akmal to seize the advantage. Delport hit six fours and three sixes for his 78, while Akmal's 31-ball 52 featured six fours.
In reply, Tamim Iqbal recorded a quick 30, but the team lost wickets in a cluster to soon fall to 95 for 4. But Malan blasted a 35-ball 42 with three sixes. When Malan was trapped lbw by Kevon Cooper off the first ball in the penultimate over, the match was tilted to Lahore's way.
Scores:
Lahore 164-3 (A. Ali 25, CS Delport 78, U. Akmal 52; J. Khan 2-32).
Peshawar 160-7 (T. Iqbal 30, D. Malan 42; Cooper 3-25, Delport 3-18).
