Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 02 - 2016

JEDDAH — Mavra, a non-profitable ladies social group, once again conducted another ladies event, which proved to be a grand success with a large number of people attending the show.
Mavra organized an event on the theme of ‘love'. The event enthralled the audience with a series of programs depicting love in different aspects of life. Not just restricted to the love of Romeo and Juliet, the event showcased the love of a mother and a child, the love of a brother and sister, the love between husband and wife, and the stages of love with the changing generations.
Tabassum Mohsin Alavi, the founder of Mavra and the host of the show, welcomed the audience with an impressive speech. She thanked the audience and the group members for their association and coordination for once again making the event a grand success.
The event started with the recitation of few verses from Holy Quran followed by a welcome speech. Sonia Shaheryar, the wife of the Consul General, Pakistan, Shehla Khurum, Robina Akber, Eshrat Bin Mahfooz, Sadia Kaleem, Rakshanda Puri, Bintul Hasan, and Farhat Naeem attended. The list of the members who performed in the programs included Samra Amaan, Shama Khaan, Nausheen Majeed, Itrat Farooqui, Lubna Saleem, Fauziya Aataf, Nahan, Mariam Aataf and Rabia.
There were a number of songs related to the theme, which were carried out by the group members of Mavra. Samara Irfan, Itrat Farooqi and Noor Almas stole the show with their beautiful voices and performances.
All the programs were well applauded by the audience and especially the Qawwali program got much appreciation. The program on an old mother, made the audience literally cry as it depicted the story of an old mother, left all alone by her children.
The mother sits with a dairy, recollecting all her life struggles, that she made for the kids and the careless behavior of her children towards her. Last but not the least there was a hilarious show with a grandmother, daughter-in-law and the grand daughter-in-law discussing about what ‘love' really means. The show tickled the funny bones of the spectators as it showed changes in the meaning of ‘love' with the changing generations.
Soniya Shahreyar, Shehla Khurm, Robina Akber and Eshrat Bin Mahfooz thanked and appreciated Tabassum, the members of Mavra, and the audience present and said that Mavra group is the best in organizing the events. There were quizzes and games too for the spectators including lots of gifts to take home.
