JEDDAH — At least 3,500 more students will be enrolled in the International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ) with the opening of its fourth campus in Al-Rehab district in the new academic year.
Deputy Indian Consul General and Haj Consul Shahid Alam, who is also school observer, inspected on Friday the new facility located behind the Passport (Jawazat) office close to the Palestine Street and Haramain Expressway.
Alam was accompanied by Mohammed Abdul Raziq, chairman of the managing committee (MC), and Mohammed Hyder Ali Quraishi, MC member and head of the finance subcommittee.
The new school campus was previously the rented facility of the Jeddah Community College under King Abdulaziz University, which moved last year to a new campus.
Saudi Gazette saw the elaborate finishing touches being given to the campus.
Alam said the visit is to determine whether the new campus is prepared to accept students.
Abdul Raziq said that the new campus, which houses three buildings, has the capacity to accommodate 3,552 students.
He said that three blocks of IISJ will be moved to the new campus and two-third of it is set for girls.
"The three to five classes of girls' section will be moved to Building A while Building C will be occupied by block 1-2 boys, and Building B is designed for block 1-2 girls," he said.
The chairman said that the managing committee has signed contract with the building owner on an annual rent of SR 5.1 million.
Abdul Raziq said those students who passed the tests earlier will be considered for admission on a priority basis provided that they have grade promotion transfer certificates.
