DUBAI — ‘Making Health Personal' has been the theme of Royal Philips during this year's annual Arab Health Exhibition and Congress. The company is showcasing several new technologies that provide healthcare solutions across the health continuum, from healthy living and disease prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and care at home. Tele-ICU is one of Royal Philips' revolutionize technologies that led for signing a deal between the company and the UAE Ministry of Health.
Arjen Radder, Philips CEO Middle East and Turkey, said "we have signed an agreement with ministry of health here in UAE around something we called tele-ICU. Eventually, we monitor ICU patients in intensive care and we monitor them 24 hours in 7 days a week and you can imagine there is shortage of doctors and nurses, so this way you motor those patients remotely, and because we are able to do that, we are able to move those patients 30 percent quicker."
Royal Philips signed the deal with the health ministry and stated currently working with two hospitals and after that they will scale up to more other hospitals after the ministry decision.
Radder explained that all the products that the company presented to the exhibition's visitors this year, are very much solutions for the health continuing and people may know in the past that healthcare was very much about diagnosis and treatment only.
"More and more we should need to follow patients and we need to stabilize the hospital in the home and at the same time you know it is important to invest in our health and prevent it from diseases. In this area we have number of solutions," he added.
Royal Philips is concentrating in a vital goal, which is to connect adults between healthy living, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and home care, so that what the company called health continue and it is the company ambition for today and tomorrow, is to connect these different elements. By connecting these elements, a lot of advantage for patients will appear and people for better quality outcomes. For example, early diagnosis for diseases and saving the patients time.
"We are also introducing our personal health programs, so this is a day for a healthy living and prevention. These personal health programs are built around medical devises, so this is very different than other companies that are in the consumer space," he added.
One of the technologies that is part of the personal health programs, and it has been introduced during the exhibition, is the IntelliSpace Portal 8.0.
One of the features of this technology, is the advanced data sharing, analytics and visualization platform which helps radiologists detect, diagnose and follow-up on cancer treatment. Lumify is another technology that is showcased and it is one of the smart health solutions that will benefit the sector since it is set to make ultrasound technology more accessible to licensed healthcare providers.
