The American Food Festival at Manuel Supermarket was inaugurated last Jan. 14. US Consul General to Jeddah Todd Holmstrom delivered the opening remarks and participated in a ribbon- and cake-cutting ceremony with the CEO & co-founder of Manuel Supermarket Khalid Al Darwish at Jeddah's Manuel Supermarket Stars Avenue Mall. The local, high-end grocery chain has four locations in the Jeddah metro region and its flagship branch at Stars Avenue is popular with many Jeddawis. Manuel Supermarket, a direct importer as well as domestic purchaser of grocery products, carries a number of American fresh and processed foods, as well as other culinary and household items which are sourced from the United States. The company was established in 2010 by a group of Saudi investors. Holmstrom and Al Darwish, along with General Manager Abdulrazzak Al Darwish took a tour of American goods in the Manuel Stars Avenue branch store. Manuel Supermarket has arranged a week-long promotion highlighting newly imported American products in a specific area and will offer discounts on many American brands.
