Schneider makes 36 saves
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 01 - 2016

Mike Cammalleri scored twice, Cory Schneider made 36 saves and the New Jersey Devils beat the Ottawa Senators 3-0 Wednesday night.
Andrew Hammond made 18 saves. The Senators lost for the seventh time in 10 games despite outshooting New Jersey 28-11 over the final two periods. The Devils jumped one point ahead of the Senators and into the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 45 points.
Lee Stempniak had a short-handed empty-net goal with 16 seconds left. Cammalleri scored both his goals in the first period.
Capitals 5, Sabres 2
Alex Ovechkin scored two third-period goals as the Washington Capitals rallied past the Buffalo Sabres for their ninth successive win.
Washington, trailing 2-1 in the third period, scored four goals to improve to 16-1-1 over their last 18 games.
Left winger Andre Burakovsky and right winger Justin Williams also scored for Washington.
The Capitals (28-6-2) moved ahead of idle Dallas for the NHL points lead.
Rangers 5, Lightning 2
Rangers center Dominic Moore stole the puck deep in the Lightning zone and beat goalie Ben Bishop for the go-ahead goal in the third period as New York posted a 5-2 win over Tampa Bay.
Moore jumped on a puck that got away from Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman, made a quick move and beat Bishop with 16:44 left.
New York added two empty-net goals in the final 1:21 of the game, first on a length-of-the-ice shot by left winger Viktor Stalberg on a loose puck five seconds after the Lightning had pulled Bishop.
Tampa Bay kept Bishop out, only to see left winger Rick Nash score another empty-net goal with 32 seconds left.
Sharks 4, Flyers 2
Joe Pavelski's tie-breaking goal at 13:45 of the third period enabled the San Jose Sharks to snap a four-game losing streak at home with a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Pavelski dropped to one knee to one-time a cross-ice feed from defenseman Justin Braun past Flyers goalie Steve Mason. Pavelski's second power-play goal of the period, and 20th of the season, came at 19:11 to add insurance.
The tie-breaking goal came off a rush, and just three seconds after the expiration of San Jose's fifth power play of the night. The Sharks converted two earlier man-advantage chances to spark the offense.
