Saudia registers hike in number of passengers, flights

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) achieved growth in its operations during the month of November compared to the same month in 2014. The operation report registered an increase in number of flights and guests on board domestic and international flights.
The percentage of punctuality of flights decreased slightly due to turbulent weather and heavy rain witnessed by many regions of the Kingdom during the month.
Sulaiman Abdullah Amer, deputy chairman of the Operations Center in Saudi Arabian Airlines, said that there were 15,422 scheduled and extra flights in the domestic and international sector. They registered a 3 percent increase in number of flights compared to the same period last year.
The number of scheduled domestic flights operated during November 2015 reached 9,973. This showed a 1 percent increase compared to the number of flights during November 2014. The percentage of scheduled domestic flights reached 66.16 percent of the total number of flights operated. There was 88.89 percent punctuality.
Meanwhile, 5,101 scheduled international flights were operated during November 2015. These formed 33.84 percent of the total number of flights during the month. Compared to the number of scheduled international flights during the same period in 2014, there was an increase of 496 flights with a growth rate of 11 percent. The percentage punctuality in international flights reached 88.34 percent.
Amer said 2,148,427 passengers were transported on all domestic and international flights during November 2015 compared to 2,016,505 passengers during the same period in 2014. The figure in 2015 showed an increase of 131,922 passengers and a growth of 6.54 percent.
The number of passengers on domestic flights reached 1,384,475 with an increase of 75,750 passengers and 6 percent. This figure is 64.44 percent of the total number of passengers on all "Saudia" flights during November.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers on international flights reached 763,952, with an increase of 56,172 passengers compared to the number of passengers transported in 2014 with a growth of 8 percent.
The daily number of domestic and international flights during November 2015 reached 514 compared to the daily average number of flights of 500 during November 2014.
The daily average number of passengers during November 2015 reached 71,614 compared to 67,215 during November 2014.
