Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 12 - 2015

DAMMAM — The International Indian School, Dammam, (IISD) organized an educational exhibition "Eduex-2015" recently coinciding with ‘Children's Day'. Every year IIS Dammam organizes such exhibitions section-wise. This year it was organized by ‘Boys' Secondary and Senior Secondary Section' with a theme "Unfurling the Hidden World".
Since the participants were from 9th to 12th standards, the presentations of projects were unique. Initially there was a logo competition for students, which was won by Ayman Nazeer of XII.
More than 1,000 budding scientists of IIS Dammam presented 300 projects with many creative ideas and exhibits. The enthusiasm and skill clubbed with in-depth knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, social science, computer science, marketing, business studies, economics and accountancy was commendable.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Awad Al Maliki, deputy director, foreign & private, education, Eastern Province and Hussain Al Maqboul, senior supervisor, foreign and private, education, Eastern Province. Dr. Abdussalam Kanniyan, chairman of the school managing committee, and the members were also present at the event.
The school principal and head of the institution Dr. E. K. Mohd. Shaffe welcomed the guests and briefed them about the objectives of the exhibition. The research projects were extremely impressive and laid foundation for tomorrow's Faradays, Newtons, Edisons and Einsteins among the budding scientists.
The exhibits included prototype models, working models and research-based projects, which were very innovative and relevant. A pilotless copter "Drone" was the center of attraction of the exhibition. The chopper could fly a distance of more than 100 meters and send videos and images which could be displayed on a large screen in the hall. Among other models were wind tunnel; ‘wireless mobile charger - WiFi house' and melting man show, which captivated the visitors, while, merits and demerits of advertisements were presented in a very attractive way by the students of commerce section.
Hologram was special feature of the exhibition. The parents and students of IIS Dammam got an excellent and unique opportunity to witness the projects of promising and up-coming scientist, corporates and business tycoons of school.
IIS Dammam is always one step ahead to teach moral and social values to the students with maintaining high standard in academics. Keeping that in mind, a separate section was created for Arabic & Islamic Education and Saudi Arabian culture. Islamic Quiz was the main attraction of this section where many attractive prizes were given to the winners of the quiz by ‘WAMY'.
Eduex 2015 not only focused on science and commerce but also on art and literature. A few eminent personalities from English literature were also characterized and presented in the exhibition. They included Gulliver from Gulliver Travels, Legendary Indian Journalist Khushwant Singh and William Wordsworth.
The projects were judged by distinguished experts and professionals from various schools and colleges. All the participants were presented with participating certificates and the winners will be awarded trophies and awards.
The entire show was supervised by Dr. Mohd. Irfan Waheed, head of the core committee which included John Joseph, Lawrence Verghese, Prabhakar Chandola, Shaheen Sultan, Mallika Gopakumar, Jayashree Kumar and the members of the teaching faculty from the Boys Secondary Section and the Boys Senior Secondary Section.
