Oman Air celebrates sultanate's 45th National Day
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 12 - 2015

OMAN Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has taken a lead role in celebrating the country's 45th National Day on Nov. 18. Oman Air's celebrations took place throughout the airline's international network. However, special significance was given to activity at Oman Air's headquarters in Muscat, and at Muscat International Airport.
Providing an eye-catching spectacle, Oman Air's headquarters building was lit up in the red, white and green colors of Oman's national flag. The lights also set the scene for a celebratory lunch, at which Oman Air's chief officers lead by the CEO Paul Gregorowitsch served meals to the airline's staff, who usually serve everyone else.
Entertainment was provided by student bands, who played traditional Omani music. In addition, birthday presents were presented to people born on Nov. 18 and prizes were given to women and children dressed in the colors best reflecting the National Day.
And as a symbol of the peace and security enjoyed by the citizens of Oman since Sultan Qaboos Bin Said's accession, 45 white doves were released by Gregorowitsch.
Meanwhile, at airports in Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, Khasab and Duqum, and at Oman Air's office in the Muscat suburb of Ruwi, the airline's celebrations could be seen by all. Airport lounges, offices and check-in areas were festooned with flowers, flags and drapes.
Cards and flowers adorned almost every surface and balloon arches welcomed visitors, who were also offered specially baked commemorative cupcakes. Furthermore, the pride felt by all at Oman Air during National Day was underlined on billboards, and by colourful banners behind the check-in counters at Muscat International Airport.
And at airports right across Oman Air's global network, a number of fortunate customers got to share in the airline's celebrations. Every 45th economy class passenger to check-in for an Oman Air flight was presented with a letter from Gregorowitsch. This announced that in celebration of the 45th National Day and as the 45th passenger to check-in for their flight, they were the lucky recipient of an exclusive upgrade to business class.
Throughout the day, Oman Air was pleased to share its celebrations via print and social media. Commemorative adverts were taken in a range of Omani publications. In addition, photographs of the day's events, including the winners of business class upgrades, were posted on a number of social media platforms.
There was also a special online offer in commemoration of the 45th National Day, whereby tickets for domestic sectors namely Salalah, Khasab, Sohar and Duqum were on sale for OMR18. Selected regional and international destinations were also offered at a special price of OMR45 and OMR145 respectively, which were eagerly received by excited passengers.
National Day marks the anniversary of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said coming to the throne in 1970. Under his leadership, world-class transport, health, education and commercial infrastructures have been developed. A hospitality and tourism sector has been created and millions of visitors arrive in the Sultanate every year to enjoy its natural beauty, rich culture and warm Omani welcome. The vast majority of those visitors fly to Oman with Oman Air, which has become an internationally visible example of his vision.
