No. 18 UConn survives Michigan rally

Daniel Hamilton and UConn put together a solid all-around performance, and Michigan was unable to keep up with the talented Huskies.
Hamilton had 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, and No. 18 Connecticut beat the Wolverines 74-60 Wednesday night in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Huskies (4-0) dominated most of the second half, leading by as many as 19. The lead dissipated down the stretch, but they were able to get some clutch baskets in the final minutes.
Shonn Miller and Rodney Purvis each had 13 points for the Huskies. Caris LeVert led Michigan with 21 points. The Wolverines shot 32 percent from the field.
Gonzaga rolls past Washington
The Gonzaga-Washington rivalry is back, accompanied by the sound of whistles.
The Bulldogs took the latest round Wednesday, wading through a mound of fouls to get there. Kyle Wiltjer had 24 points and Domantas Sabonis added 17 to send 10 Gonzaga past Washington 80-64 in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.
The teams combined for 60 fouls and 74 free throws. The Bulldogs took advantage of the Huskies' foul trouble in the first half, at one time taking a 24-point lead.
Texas A&M beats Texas
Danuel House had 19 points, Anthony Collins scored 15 and No. 25 Texas A&M beat Texas 84-73.
It was the first meeting between the longtime Southwest and Big 12 Conference rivals since 2012. Texas A&M's victory stopped a five-game winning streak in the series for the Longhorns.
The Aggies will face Gonzaga in the semifinals Thursday. The Longhorns take on Washington in the consolation bracket.
Eric Davis, Jr. led Texas with 19 points. Cameron Ridley added 14.
Maryland downs Rhode Island
Melo Trimble scored 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting, and No. 2 Maryland beat Rhode Island 86-63 Wednesday night in the Cancun Challenge.
Trimble, who was named tournament MVP, also went 3 for 3 at the line and grabbed six rebounds. Rasheed Sulaimon also scored 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting, and Robert Carter had 15.
TCU beats Illinois State
Malique Trent scored 19 points, Vladimir Brodziansky had 16 points and nine rebounds, and TCU beat Illinois State 71-60 in the Cancun Challenge.
Illinois State made a late push to get back within nine points on a 3-point play by DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell, but Brandon Parrish drained a 3-pointer with 2:25 left.
South Dakota State edges Cleveland State
Deondre Parks led a balanced attack with 18 points and South Dakota State won the Mayan Division of the Cancun Challenge with a 77-66 win over Cleveland State.
