Jazan Police foil hashish smuggling

Police seized 320 kg of hashish in a foiled smuggling bid. Jazan Police said they received credible information on an attempt to smuggle hashish into the Kingdom. Police knew the exact date, time and location at which the smuggling attempt was set to take place but allowed the hashish to be smuggled into the country unhindered until the recipients of the packages came forward. Police arrested three men, a Saudi and two Yemenis, for being involved in the drug smuggling attempt.
‘Revealing' clothes seized by Haia
RIYADH — The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) carried out an inspection campaign on stores selling women clothes. The assistant spokesman of the Haia Mohammad Al-Shiraimi said members seized a number of clothes that were deemed "scandalous" and "unacceptable" by society. The seized items included abayas that were deemed unethical and clothes that were considered too revealing. Stores from which the items were seized were asked to replace them with more appropriate ones. If stores repeat the violations, the Haia has the authority to take legal action and issue fines.
Man in vehicular manslaughter held
TABUK — A man was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter after he allegedly targeted another man and ran him over on purpose. The victim died as a result of injuries sustained in the incident. Tabuk Police spokesman Lt. Gen. Khalid Al-Ghabban said police received a report of a 36-year-old man who died after he was admitted to the emergency ward of Umluj Hospital. The man sustained severe and critical injuries that led to his death. According to eyewitnesses, the man was run over by another man after a fight had broken out between the two. Police located the vehicle used in the crime and arrested the offender who is said to be a 22-year-old. The offender admitted that he ran the victim over on purpose but insisted that he did not mean to kill him.
Guns, ammunition seized from vehicle
JAZAN — Police here seized 10 assault rifles, 16 guns and 450 bullets from a vehicle near Wadi Daffah in Al-Dayer Bani Malik. Jazan Police said officers on routine patrol in Al-Hudama District spotted a suspicious vehicle and asked the driver to step away from the vehicle so they could search it. The driver attempted to flee the scene in the car with officers in pursuit. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a mountainside but managed to escape on foot. After searching the vehicle, officers retrieved the weapons and ammunition.
