OKAZ/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Young Saudi men and women continued their voluntary services to alleviate the sufferings of flood victims in Jeddah. They are also preparing to repair houses damaged by floodwaters. The young volunteers showed their chivalry by joining hands to support people hit by Tuesday's heavy rains. They mobilized support for the victims through the social media websites. The volunteers extended commendable services to residents of flooded homes and motorists trapped by floodwaters. Walid Felimban said the team from the industrial institute at Dallah Academy helped organize traffic in some flooded areas of Jeddah on Tuesday. "Some other members of our team focused their efforts on repairing damaged homes," he added. Abdul Majeed Al-Zahrani said many young Saudis extended humanitarian services individually due to a lack of organized endeavors. "Many of these volunteers helped victims, especially those trapped in floodwaters, after identifying and locating them through the social media," he said. Mohammed Baniama, a famous blogger, said: "I used my website to inform the public about flooded streets and areas and about houses that would accommodate displaced people." Baniama was impressed by the good and quick response of Saudi youth to provide volunteer services to flood victims. "It was amazing. They rescued people who were trapped in their cars with the support of big vehicles and equipment," he pointed out.
