RIYADH — King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology will host an international conference on vaccines for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (coronavirus) on Saturday. Director of Health Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Saeed said the conference is sponsored by Minister of Health Khaled Al–Falih. "The conference will host 28 scientists specializing in anti-venoms and vaccines for coronavirus. The conference will span over two days and features speakers from all over the world including Saudi Arabia, United States, Canada, Holland, Australia, Germany, Korea and China," said Bin Saeed. He added the conference will present the latest research by pioneering companies in producing coronavirus vaccines. "The speakers are researchers and scientists from the World Health Organization, the American Health Research Institute and the International Vaccine Institute. The Ministry of Health has been very attentive to the international opinion of coronavirus," said Bin Saeed. He also said there has not been any new coronavirus cases reported in the past seven days. "The ministry has an internal and an external strategy in dealing with the virus. The internal strategy includes the health regulations imposed on all health institutions, the facilities the ministry provided and updated and the awareness campaigns it organizes to educate the general public about the virus," said Bin Saeed. He said anyone suspected of having the virus or showing the symptoms of the disease must rush immediately to the nearest emergency ward for checkups. "The ministry's external strategy is collaborating with international organizations to tackle the virus. The conference is part of the ministry's external outreach program. The total number of coronavirus cases in the Kingdom reached 1,276 with 546 deaths. Four patients are currently undergoing treatment, while 726 recovered," said Bin Saeed.
