JEDDAH — The Pakistan Christian Welfare Forum (PCWF) Jeddah organized a farewell dinner in honor of the outgoing Pakistan Consul General Aftab Ahmed Khokher and to welcome the new Consul General Shaheryar Akber Khan at the resident of Pervaiz Yousuf Masih, president PCWF. Large number of members from the Christian community living in Jeddah and prominent guests, including Deputy Consul General Asif Hussain Memon, Mrs. Reema John Gulzar, Mrs. Afshan Aftab Khokher, Amir Muhammad Khan, chairman Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) and other media persons attended the function. The program started with the traditional prayer. Shahzad Taj, a senior member of PCWF, gave the welcome remarks and opening speech. Amir Mohammed Khan chairman PJF, said in his speech that this a unique occasion in which two consul generals are attending the Christian community's function together for the first time. "The outgoing consul general and in-coming consul general together saw the cooperative nature of the Muslim community with Christian community while also noting the love and affection among the community members. This message should go to all in Pakistan, especially the Christian community," Khan added. Khan also praised the services for the ladies community by Mrs. Afshan Aftab Khokher. Patrick Falak Shar, vice president PCWF, highlighted important achievements and efforts of the consul general in the Kingdom during his tenure. He thanked the other guests for taking time off from their busy routine to attend the event. Parvez Yousuf Masih, president PCWF, thanked and appreciated the consul general for accepting the invitation. He also spoke at length of Khokher's tenure as one of the most memorable ones here. He also thanked him for all his help and guidance. In his address Consul General Khokher thanked the Christian community for their love and hospitality. He also stressed that we are one nation. "Whether we are Muslim or Christian it does make any difference because we all are holding Pakistani passport. The constitution of Pakistan gives equal rights to all its citizens," Khokher added. He asked community to remember him and his family in their prayers. New Consul General Shaheryar Khan assured the Christian community of his cooperation in the consulate matters and all his support. As a token of love and appreciation a shield was presented to Aftab Khokher from Christian community.
