Eight Filipino pilgrims were hurt, four seriously, when their bus traveling from Mina to Arafat turned upside down after ramming a concrete barrier Saturday. The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) has identified the eight injured pilgrims, who were among 60 passengers on their way to Arafat to join the Standing in Arafat, according to a news item on Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation website. Over 4,300 Filipinos traveled from the Philippines to perform Haj this year, it added. NCMF secretary Bai Omera D. Dianalan Lucman named the injured as: (Women) Salamona Mapantas, Noronisa Cadalay, Lawansa Tingaraan, Fatma Alaa, Rasmia Macarimbang, Amena Magantor, (men) Dimaronsing Limpaolan and Cabiran Ogar. As per reports from the NCMF Haj Medical Team, led by Dr. Jerry Wahab Porza in Makkah, Lucman said Tingaraan and Macarimbang have been discharged from Al-Nur Hospital in Makkah. Those being observed for serious injuries were: Limpaolan, Magantor, Ogar and Cadalay, whose left arm was severed in the mishap. “Our medical team was informed soon after the accident occurred Saturday, which proceeded to the site and attended to the injured,” the NCMF head was quoted as saying. Lucman also thanked the Saudi Red Crescent Society for immediately bringing the victims to hospitals and the Haj Ministry authorities for helping the slightly-injured pilgrims perform the Haj rites.
