With 4 million members worldwide, Curves gym for women recently opened its first branch in the Kingdom in the city of Jeddah. Not only is Curves strictly a women's gym, it is also renowned for its uniquely designed equipments that are created specifically for women's bodies. “We want everybody to be healthier and we hope to prevent cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and othe preventable diseases with a short yet effective work out” said Dalia Abdulaziz Farsi, operational manager of Curves.
Curves was not haphazardly created, it was based on scientific studies made by Gray Heavin, its founder, who wanted to create a place where women would feel comfortable, yet motivated to stay healthy. Within 30 minutes, Curves circuit style work out mixes cardio and muscle strengthening burning up to 500 calories using machines that are equipped with hydraulic cylinders instead of weights to keep women fit and strong.
This exceptional facility accommodates women above the age of 18 years. Coaches are available at all times and use the three C's: ‘Correcting', ‘Compelling' and ‘Celebrating' the members and giving them the push they need to reach their goals.
Each coach is handpicked for her charisma and potential and is enrolled in a special training program which teaches her everything regarding health, nutrition, the machines at the gym and what muscles they strengthen. Nadia Al Dubi, member of Curves gym said, “The Curves family is what makes it a more desirable place to be a part of with friendly, encouraging and caring coaches and not stiff trainers. We continuously get the push that we need to happily reach our goals”.
Curves facilitates from five hundred to a thousand women in its first branch located in Tahlia Street. Another branch will open in the northern part of Jeddah by the end of the year. With plans of expansion in the next four years, there will be another four branches in Jeddah, two in Makkah and one in Taif. __
