The first batch of Chinese pilgrims arrived here Friday. A total of 13,800 pilgrims will come from China this year and they are expected to arrive by Oct. 23. Ibrahim Hong Changyou, Head of the Chinese Haj delegation, said: “I am very happy to lead the Chinese Muslims Haj delegation for the second year.” “The Chinese government is concerned about educating its Muslim (citizens) about the Haj regulations set by the Saudi government,” he added. China has a population of more than 22 million Muslims. “During Haj, we will conduct awareness sessions in Makkah and we will answer the queries of Chinese pilgrims,” Changyou said. The Islamic Chinese Association sends 70 Mutawif and one Imam for every 200 pilgrims, he added. “King Abdullah's recent expansion project in Makkah shows his care for Muslims all over the world. May Allah reward him,” Changyou said. __
